Brasilia (06 July) - The Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC) today announced a change in the procedures for correcting Export Registers (RE) data of goods that have already shipped abroad. From now on, exporting companies will no longer need the consent of the Department of Foreign Trade Operations (Decex), of the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), required in cases of changes in weight, price and number of the Drawback Concession Act, a special customs regime consisting in the relief of taxes levied on inputs imported or purchased on the domestic market for use in exported products. Of the more than 4.5 million REs registered in 2014, about 28,900 needed change after shipment of the goods. Of these operations, more than 50%, approximately 15 thousand, dealt with weight correction, price or number of the Concession Act. According to the Secretary of Foreign Trade, Daniel Godinho, the simplification adopted reduces the time spent adjusting and deprives the exporters of the payment of fees that were charged for the execution of the service. "From now on, the changes will be finalized immediately after the command made by the exporter in the system," he says. Godinho also believes that the change in the procedure can have a positive impact on the export sector. "The measure adopted is part of the trade facilitation pillar of the National Export Plan. The conclusion of one of the actions planned for the year 2015 reflects the government's willingness to expand the bureaucratization of foreign trade and thus boost Brazilian foreign sales, "he says. The plan Effective until 2018, the National Export Plan is an important step towards giving new status to foreign trade, with structural actions that go beyond a short-term vision and which are the bases to make our economy more competitive and competitive. The plan is structured in five pillars: market access; commercial promotion; trade facilitation; financing and guarantees for exports and improvement of mechanisms and tax regimes for export support. The objective is to increase Brazilian exports by expanding the number of companies in foreign trade, including a greater participation of micro, small and medium enterprises, and the diversification of the agenda, focusing on products with a higher technological density. The plan also includes measures to expand agribusiness exports and to recover exports of manufactured products. To read the text of the plan in its entirety, click here.
